Hiya! I was looking over Chapter 1 of our costly textbook and something popped out to me. It was the ARCS motivational model. The text talked about how many students are only learning to pass test and how even the best learning strategy will fail if the students are not motivated. This model talks about the differences in student learning to the amount of effort they put forth There are for areas that account for the differences; attention, relevance, challenge/confidence and satisfaction/success. I think this model is helpful especially when used with the learning styles best suited with the student.

The new skills I have acquired since the last class are things I did not learn from the text. I find the textbook less than helpful. I am learning how to type faster through class time blog post. I still type quit slow. I really should have payed attention in that typing class in high school.

Today I had to be at school earlier than I am used to. I am not a morning person. I was late for my first class and it happens to be one of those auditorium 200+ enrolled classes, the only entrance is at the front of the room! Why would the architech do this? It just plain mean! I also took the wrong bus to my third class and was also late for that one too! Humph!

Hey everyone! I am Kay.I love dogs! I am enrolled in a technology class and we are learning to use blogs. This is my first assignment. I will be teaching in the Fall and I am excited about it. There is so much technology out there that is useful to teachers and students. I want to learn about these things so I can be a more effective teacher.

I have never written my own blog but I have friends on myspace.com that have blogs that I subscribe to. I think I will be able to use this technology in a classroom in order to keep parents and students up to date on what we are doing.

I hope to learn how to use this technology to communicate with parents and students. I think talking on a blog will work better than traditional office hours. I hope to learn how to show others how this technology too. I think this is a fairly simple way of communicating with one another. I also hope to learn how to use this faster than I do now. I am rather slow at the moment. I hope to learn enough from this to recive an A in this class
